Mary C. Pennington, a proud lifelong resident of Kansas City, passed away on May 23, 2016, surrounded by her family. Mary was born May 15, 1927, and was preceded in death by her parents and husband Harry Pennington.
Following her retirement from Sears, she developed a special love of ballroom dancing and was seen throughout the metro at various dances. She often said that she could dance better than she could walk. She leaves behind her sons Anthony (Skip) and Blaine Pennington, daughters-in-law Diana and Pat Pennington, and grandchildren and great-grandchildren Amanda (Tyson), Hollee (Paul), Adam (Ashley), Nicole (Keith), Andrew (Monique), Allie, Taylor, Cole, Beau, Andrew, Cooper, Will, Ellie, Grace, and Eli. Mary will be missed by so many family and friends, but all are comforted knowing that she danced through an amazing 89 years of life. We know that she will be watching over us, dressed to the nines, reunited with her best friends and love of her life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Don Bosco Community Center where Mary spent many hours enjoying lunch with friends and playing bingo.
Funeral services will be held at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Independence, MO, on Friday, May 27th. Visitation will be from 12-1 p.m., and the funeral Mass will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
