Mercedes M. Arzaga, age 72, passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018, at St. Luke's Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 25, at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge, Raytown, MO 64138.
Mercedes was born January 15, 1946, to her mother, Paz Moreno, in Jimenez, Chihuahua, Mexico where she lived for the beginning 30 years of her life. She came to this country in 1976 with her husband and three children in search of a better life, and they settled down in Kansas City's West Side.
Mercedes was a proud mother and grandmother. She was a stay at home mom all her life without any complaints. You could say she happily lived for that. She was full of life and very giving. She touched the lives of many as she was a mother figure to many as well. She had a heart of gold and was very strong willed. Anyone who knew her knew she was a Fighter to the very end.
Mercedes was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Alfredo Arzaga; beloved son, Jose Arzaga; mother, Paz Moreno; and sister, Carolina Moreno. She leaves behind two daughters, Sandra Arzaga and Araceli Arzaga; five grandchildren, Leticia, Marea, Aarea, Giovanni and Raheem; five great-grandchildren, Aayona, Ania, Julian, Ja'Kiayla and Jayden; and many extended family and friends.
The family would like to give special thanks and appreciation to Laura Aguirre and Maria Bermudez for their support throughout the years. Also, the family are very appreciative and thankful to have had the help from St. Luke's Hospice House, Crystal Home Care, Respite Care, Rosa Santiago, Simple Living Solutions, Julie Whitley and Dana, Passantino Bros. Funeral Home and Mount Olivet Cemetery for their services.
