In loving memory of a wonderful husband and father, Michael J. Bua, who passed away on Friday, December 23, 2022.

Mike was born November 26, 1927 and was the oldest child of Frank and Elizabeth (Rizzo) Bua. Both of his parents immigrated to the United States from Sicily in the early 1900s. He grew up in the north end part of Kansas City Missouri, went to Holy Rosary Church and attended Manual High and Vocational School. He always had fond memories of those earlier years and was very proud of his Italian heritage.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Joann (Becchina) Bua. He also leaves behind his daughter, Elizabeth Bua, son and daughter-in-law Frank and Debbie Bua, three grandchildren: grandson Bryan Bua and his wife Kristin, granddaughter Erin Bua, and granddaughter Megan and her husband Alek Lanter, sister Josephine Fazzino, along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great great nieces, great nephews, great great nephews, cousins, and friends. All who will miss his endearing and kind ways.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Carl Bua, brother-in-law Patrick Fazzino and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Mary and John Giambalvo, Jack and Ann Becchina, Frances and Phillip Daniels, Matthew and Josephine Becchina, Josephine and Patrick McAllister, Sam and Virgina Becchina, Margaret and Dominick Crescente, Louise and Frank Stalone.

Mike served his country in the United States Navy during the closing years of World War II. He was stationed in Japan for almost two years where he helped with their country/s rehabilitation. He achieved the rank of Seamon First Class and received a World War II Victory Medal. He returned home from service just before Christmas in December 1947 and met Joann shortly after on New Year's Eve. They were married on Thanksgiving Day of November 1957. After his time in the service, Mike apprenticed with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 124 and learned what would become his lifelong trade. He received his 70-year Service Award with them in 2021 and was so pleased to be a member of their union.

He eventually settled in with the company that became known in 1974 as Mark One Electric Company where he worked tirelessly to ensure that his family had everything they needed. Mike retired from there in 1990, but not before his son Frank had also joined the company as a second-generation electrician. He also experienced another proud work-related moment when his grandson Bryan also followed in his footsteps and became a third-generation IBEW Local 124 electrician, and also began working for Mark One Electric.

He faced every challenge in life with admirable strength and courage. Early in life, Mike learned the importance of hard work and he instilled that same work ethic in his children. He was a man of great faith, and he taught us the importance of family, hard work and doing what is right.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131. Rosary prayed at 10:30am followed by visitation. Mass at 12:30pm then graveside service and burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, Missouri 64138.
