Obituary

Michael Paul Crain, 72, passed away December 1, 2023, at NorthCare Hospice House, surrounded by family and friends. Services will be held on Wednesday, December 6, at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in care of Passantino Bros. Funeral Home.

Mike was born August 31, 1951, in Independence, MO, to the late Paul and Dorothy Crain. He graduated from Blue Springs High School in 1969. He served his country with honor in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. After his service, he embarked on a successful career in sales, where his charismatic personality and genuine interest in people helped him excel. He usually would connect with everyone he met. Mike spent years coaching little league football. It wasn't just about the game but about instilling values and fostering development in young athletes. He was more than a coach, he was a mentor and a guiding light. His happiest moments were spent surrounded by his family and friends, whose lives he touched with his warmth, humor, and love. Mike's legacy of kindness, community involvement, and unwavering support for his family will be forever cherished. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law Deloma and Charles Gouge; and his in-laws Edward and Rose Scavuzzo. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Concetta Scavuzzo Crain; his son Kenneth John Crain; his daughter Rosangela Brandon (Keith); grandchildren Nina Crain, Trevor Michael Crain, and Ethan Joseph Brandon; great-grandson Anthony Michael Macias; sister Madeline Watson; brothers-in-law Louis Scavuzzo and John Scavuzzo (Nancy); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear close friends.
