Michael George Picone, 84, passed away Monday, October 2, 2017. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, October 5, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124. The Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m. Friday, October 6, at the Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Mike was born September 29, 1933, and raised in Kansas City, MO. After Army service in the Korean War he was a salesman for Lady Baltimore Foods for 30 years. He retired to the Lake of the Ozarks. Following the death of his wife in 2012 he returned to Kansas City. He was a member of American Legion Post 499, and the American Sons of Columbus where he enjoyed playing penny poker with his poker buddies.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of 56 years, Joyce Marie Picone. Survivors include his son, John Picone (Dona); granddaughters, Mindy Johnson (Andrew), Jennifer Picone (Zach Burke), Joyce Ball (Scott); three great-grandchildren; and cousins Alex and Judy Picone.
Pallbearers: Alex Picone, Michael Balano, Phil Balano, Frank Russo, Marc Picone, John Fuhrman.
Honorary Pallbearers: Ralph Barreca, Joe Mike Christifano, Anthony Salucci, Salvatore Calandrino, Nick Conforti, Billy Gianchino.
The family offers special thanks to Donna Pisciotta and St. Luke's Hospice for the care given to Mike.
Mike was a wonderful father and loving grandfather. Although our hearts are broken and we will miss him terribly, he is with Mom and is resting in peace. God bless you Daddy – I love you and always will.
