Michael Jay Thomas, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025, at the age of 61.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Jennifer (Barba) Thomas; his children Krystal Thomas, Amber Thomas, Michael Thomas Jr., and Cecilia Thomas; and his grandchildren Alonzo, Adonis, Ariel, Austin, and King, who were the joy of his life.

Michael is also survived by his siblings and their spouses: Bill Thomas, Roland Thomas, Janet Thomas, John Thomas, Jackie Harris, and Evette Dean; along with many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his father William Thomas, his mother Lucille Thomas, and his brother Don Thomas.

A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Michael later devoted his life to caring for others as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). He was known for his selflessness — always willing to help anyone, especially his family. He loved music, video games, and spending time with those he loved most.

Michael courageously battled kidney disease and was on the path toward a transplant. The family extends special thanks to DaVita Dialysis of Blue Ridge, the doctors at University Health, and the Transplant Team of Saint Luke's Hospital for their care and compassion.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at HighLeah, 2001 Pembroke Crescent W, Independence, MO 64057
