Obituary

Mitchell Lee Carathers, "Mitch", of Gladstone, MO, passed away April 8, 2024, at the age of 53.

Mitch was born July 24, 1970. He grew up in Strong City, KS, and later moved to Kansas City, MO where he started his career at B&R Insulation. During this time he met Sherry, who later would become his wife, and they began to raise a family together. Mitch loved his family and his extended family and was very proud of his son Jacob and his beautiful children. Mitch was a giver of time and skills. If you needed your car looked at or needed your knife or gun repaired, he was your guy.  He had the ability to build and fix things like no other, always putting others needs before his own. His willingness to help others was a trait that one might remember him by. Mitch enjoyed his music and had a few favorites including George Thorogood and the blues.  If Mitch's middle name wasn't Lee, it would have been Peace. He was a simple man with a simple life who sought out the good in others.

Mitch will be deeply missed and loved by his wife Sherry (Wingfield) Carathers; daughter Nicole Perkins (Jeff); son Jacob Carathers (Megan); grandchildren Katlyn, Isabella, Damian, Leo, Richard, and Kahliyah; mother Bert McIntyre; brother Pat Carathers (Tracey); sister-in-law and brother-in-law Edie Marie and Rocky Battaglia; brother-in-law Louis Tricarico; sister-in-law Shirley Wingfield; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, especially Rosie, Chris, Zoey, Remi and Raiden. Mitch was preceded in death by his father Frank Carathers, and stepfather Jerry McIntyre.

Services will be held on Thursday, April 18, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 11:30 a.m.
