Nancy Marie Buffa, age 76, passed away the morning of February 8, 2022 surrounded by family. Nancy was born in Kansas City, Missouri and raised in KCMO's famous North End where she lived with her mother and three siblings just below her beloved grandparents, Frank and Theresa Serrone. She grew up attending Holy Rosary parish and remained a devout Roman Catholic.

In 1968, Nancy met a young, recently discharged Army veteran named Carl. Romance soon blossomed and in 1971 they were married and remained so until her passing. They quickly started a family and in 1972 their son Carl Michael was born, and in 1975 a daughter, Julie Ann.

Nancy loved being a mother and was always supportive, nurturing, and loving. She always instilled a sense of doing things properly, with class, and respect. Yet, she was no pushover, and the wooden spoon made many appearances when needed.

Nancy later completed her teaching training and became a Montessori teacher helping children and later a real estate agent, to help families find their perfect home. While living in Wichita Falls, Texas She volunteered at a local cancer clinic, giving comfort and support to patients getting treatment. After Carl's retirement, they moved back to Missouri, settling in Hollister MO where she and Carl created and lead a bible study at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic parish in Branson, MO.

Not only that, she was a fantastic cook and baker. You knew there would never be a bad meal in her household to the point Carl Michael's friends would invite themselves over for dinner quite often. She loved to shop for new kitchen tools and gadgets, also to add to her incredible collection of cookbooks.

Her outgoing personality and combined with a deeply instilled Mediterranean hospitality led Nancy to never meet a stranger, everyone was treated like family. She loved to travel and many times she would come back from vacation, having made new, long-term friendships.

Her kind heart and caring spirit ensured she always cared more about others, and their well- being, to know more about you and your life than talk about herself. She hated hearing that someone had no home gathering to attend for a holiday, scrapping her own plans and to open her door and host her own; after spending the morning helping put together meals for those in need at a local charity. Family was incredibly important to her, and especially her relationship with her sister Geraldine and brother (in-law) Jerry.

Nancy was preceded in death by her daughter Julie, and siblings Tommy and Donna.

She is survived by her husband Carl, son Carl Michael & wife Terri, sister Geraldine & husband Jerry Sirna, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and siblings-in-law.

Entombment will be 1 p.m. Friday, February 11, at Mount Olivet Mausoleum, Raytown, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Nancy's memory to City Union Mission in Kansas City, MO.
