It is with profound sadness and shattered hearts that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Neal Isaac Alaiwat, age 59, on Saturday, September 12, 2026. Neal passed away doing what he loved to do every Saturday morning—walking his beloved dogs, Loki and Zeus, in Smithville. His departure leaves an unfillable void in the lives of his family, friends, and the countless colleagues whose lives he touched throughout his life.

Neal was born on November 12, 1966, in Jerusalem to Isaac and Hasna Alaiwat. At the age of eleven, Neal immigrated to the United States with his family and grew up in Raytown, Missouri. He graduated from Raytown High School in 1984 and earned his degree from the University of Central Missouri in 1989, where he was a proud member of Delta Chi Fraternity.

For more than 25 years, Neal built a distinguished career in the mortgage industry. Since 2007, he served as President and Co-Owner of United Fidelity Funding Corporation alongside Amy Alaiwat. He was deeply admired and respected by his UFF family and cherished the opportunity to work so closely with family and friends.

Known for his sharp financial mind, unwavering integrity, and unique ability to connect with people from all walks of life, Neal was a mentor to many and a trusted advisor to all. His professional legacy was built on honesty, hard work, generosity, and a genuine desire to care for others. He had a remarkable ability to see the good in everyone he met.

While Neal achieved great success in his professional life, his greatest pride and joy was always his family.

Family was at the center of Neal’s life. As the firstborn son in a family deeply rooted in Middle Eastern traditions, he held a special place in his family’s heart. His mother lovingly called him “her king.”

Neal was a devoted father, Sedo (Papa), son, brother, and uncle who spent his life caring for the people he loved. He had a generous heart and was always willing to help anyone in need. He was the ultimate hero to his four children—Dimitri, Darius, Daunte, and Demi—and approached fatherhood with the same dedication and devotion he brought to every part of his life. He was always there with sound advice, unwavering support, and unconditional love.

Neal was also incredibly proud and happy to be a Sedo (Papa) to his granddaughter, Stella Jean, his first grandchild. He loved his children and granddaughter more than anything in the world.

Some of Neal’s happiest moments were spent outdoors and with the people he loved. He treasured playing a round of golf with his sons, loved spoiling his baby girl, Demi, and looked forward to early-morning fishing trips with his best friend, Jamie. These simple moments were among the greatest joys of his life.

The suddenness of Neal’s passing brings unimaginable grief to all who knew and loved him. Yet, in the midst of that grief, we find comfort in remembering his vibrant spirit, his protective nature, his generous heart, and the profound lessons of resilience, kindness, and love that he leaves behind.

Neal’s legacy will live on in the many lives he has touched. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. We find comfort knowing that he is once again reunited with his loyal dog, Milo, whom he affectionately cared for and loved for 16 years.

Neal is survived by his parents, Isaac and Hasna Alaiwat; his children, Dimitri (Maggie), Darius (Rosie), Daunte, and Demi; and his granddaughter, Stella Jean Alaiwat, his first grandchild. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Amy Alaiwat, along with her daughter, Amalianna Civella, whom Neal loved and treated as his own.

He is also survived by his longtime partner, Malinda Gorombey, and her children, Joseph, Noah (Malia), Kylie, and Ezmeralda, whom Neal loved as family, as well as her granddaughter, Natalia Gorombey.

Neal is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Nadine and Matt Reaves; his brother and sister-in-law, Nadir and Melissa Alaiwat; his nieces and nephews, Keelie Henderson and her husband, Joe Henderson; Kaiden Fothergill and his wife, Addison Fothergill; Kaleb Fothergill; Arielle Parker and her husband, Noah Parker; Austin Alaiwat; Alec Alaiwat; and Aydan Alaiwat; and his great-nephew, Niko Parker.

Services will be held on Saturday, September 19, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Kansas City North. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. followed by Reflections at 11:45 a.m. and the Funeral Mass at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
