Nicholas G.
Olvera, Jr.
Mar 24, 1943 — Jun 6, 2022
Nicholas G. Olvera, Jr., age 79, passed away June 6, 2022, at his home.
Nick was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Peace Church. He had worked 30 years for the United States Postal Service before retiring in 1999. Despite the hard work, he loved his job and made many close friends there over the years. Nick loved deer hunting with his son and brothers and always looked forward to spending the week with his family and making memories at deer camp. He was best remembered for shooting a deer from his Cadillac then throwing the deer in the trunk to take back to the campsite.
Nick was an avid music lover; he especially enjoyed Motown, 50's and 60's and Mexican music. He had compiled a huge collection of music over the years. Starting off with just his transistor radio, he transitioned to 8-track, reel to reel, TONS of vinyl records, cassette tapes, and eventually CDs. He was always about his "sounds". He really enjoyed going to concerts and dancing the night away.
One of his favorite things was the Olvera Family 4 th of July picnic. He and his brothers would plan for weeks and spend hours grilling the day of. If it were a dry day, he drove his beloved '60 Chevy to the picnic. His nieces and nephews have fond memories of Nick gathering all the kids and stopping the ice cream trucks to get them their favorite treats.
Nick was preceded in death by his parents Nick K. and Lupe, his first wife Sandy, brothers Joe and James, and three infant siblings Judy, John, and Margaret. He is survived by his wife Valerie; his children Nicky Joe (Renee), Shana, and Andrea; his siblings Simon (Brenda, deceased), Chris, Mary (Art) Tinkham, John, Margarita, Martin (Gloria), Danny and Judy Perez. He was blessed with seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a multitude of loving friends who will miss him dearly.
