Obituary

Patrick J. O'Brien was born on January 16, 1941. He was ready when God called him to Heaven on July 13, 2013. Pat has known suffering and pain but his faith was his strength and his outlook was positive and exemplary. Pat loved life and all who were part of it. He had a unique sense of humor which brightened the lives of all who knew and loved him. He was a son of the North End. He was also known for his business in the entertainment industry. He was the owner of several clubs, two of which carried his name 'Pat O'Brien's on Broadway' and 'Pat O'Brien's at the River Quay'. His friends said he was one of the best bartenders in Kansas City. He loved to travel, New Orleans being one of his favorites. He loved a good golf game, at which he was hard to beat. He was grateful that he lived a full life and at the same time he enriched the lives of his family and friends who will forever miss him.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Rose (Cipolla) O'Brien. He is survived by two daughters, Angela R. Vittengl and husband Shane, Christina A. O'Brien; a stepdaughter, Misty Reiff; and two grandchildren, Alexis and Noah Vittengl. Pat is also survived by his brother, Fr. Michael J. O'Brien of Rome, Italy; sister, Bernadette O'Brien Strickland and husband Galen of Blue Springs, MO: and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 18, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 911 E. Missouri Ave., Kansas City, MO 64106. Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Thursday at the church prior to Mass. Pat was cremated according to his wishes. Condolences available at www.passantinobros.com.
