Obituary

Patricia Jane Ganzer Burke, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on October 15, 2024.  She was born to William and Jane Rawles Ganzer on December 26, 1936. Pat was an only child who grew up in Historic Northeast, where she had a passion for skating, softball, swimming, dancing, and playing the piano.

Her cherished summers spent on the family farm in Lee's Summit during World War II shaped many of her fondest memories. There, she enjoyed the company of her great-grandparents and fostered a deep love for the land she would later inherit from her parents. One of her happiest moments was performing in the inaugural production at the Starlight Theater, showcasing her love for music and dancing. She graduated from Northeast High School and was a proud member of the Alumni Society. Pat was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church until moving to Lee's Summit where she attended Our Lady of the Presentation.

Pat's biggest happiness came when she met the love of her life, Jim Burke. They would marry on April 5, 1955, and make their home in Historic Northeast. Their lives were enriched with the joy of raising six children: Mike (Rhonda), Patti (David), Linda (who predeceased her), Janet, Jamie, and Tim (Cindy).  Pat's legacy extends to her grandchildren, Patrick (Kristin), Phillip, Andy, Nichole, Sarah, Ashley, Connor (Lauren), Serena and Timothy– and her great-grandchildren Anthony, Mariano, Giuliana, Delaney, Kennedy, Norah and Jett.  Jim and Pat never missed an opportunity to attend and follow all the activities of their children and their grandchildren, fostering a deep sense of family and togetherness. She loved to sit on the porch, tell stories and look at the sky to see the clouds and stars.

Pat was a stay-at-home mom until all her children were in school. She was very math oriented and worked in payroll and accounts payable positions. Jim and Pat loved the Northeast area and ran Paul's BBQ and Burke's Cafeteria for a number of years. She loved to travel and spend time with her mom and husband.

She will be remembered for her kindness, her vibrant spirit, and her unwavering love for her family.  She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew her.

Our family will be forever grateful for the love and care of the staff of Enhabit Hospice.

A celebration of Pat's life will be held on October 21, 2024, at Our Lady of the Presentation Church in Lee's Summit.  Rosary & Visitation at 9:30 a.m.; Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial at Mt. Saint Mary's Cemetery.
