Pearl M. DeMayo, 100, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2016, at John Knox Village Hospice. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Monday, February 22, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124, where the Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. Visitation will also be 10 a.m. with the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 23, at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 3736 S. Lee's Summit Rd., Independence, MO 64055. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Pearl was born on December 2, 1915, in Kansas City, MO, to Rosario and Bena (Ferrante) Passantino. During WWII Pearl was a riveter on B-29 bombers. After the war she was employed by EBT department store. Following EBT's closure she went on to Woolf Brothers and later to the Osteopathic Hospital as head receptionist. She retired at age 70.

Pearl exemplified the meaning of "how to live life to the fullest". Her life was full of laughter, singing, dancing, bowling, playing cards, and going to the casino. But her greatest joy in life was the time she spent with her daughter, granddaughters, and their families. She loved sharing stories of her life experiences. She was always thankful to God every day for her long, healthy, and full life. She would often say "create a memory whenever you can", and that she did. Those memories we will cherish and hold forever in our hearts.

Pearl was preceded in death by her loving husband, John DeMayo; brothers Tom (Lilly), Vincent (Josephine), Joe, and Frank (Lorie) Passantino; sisters Stella (Bill) Brocato, Barbara (Jasper) Termini, and Rose (Paul) Sirchia; companion Joe Fiorello. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Nate Giacomo; granddaughters: Rosemary (John) Falco, Margaret (Steve) Mize, Michelle (Todd) Cooper; great-grandchildren: Andrea, Carl, and Nicole Falco, Donya, Nate and Jillian Mize, Sophia and Sammy Cooper; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.

A heartfelt thank you to her caring breakfast buddies at Rosie's Cafe. Thank you also to the staff of John Knox Village Hospice House for the care and love they extended to Pearl and her family.

Pearl's love, wit, laughter, and smile will be missed by all.
