Phillip Michael Wall passed away April 18, 2026, at the age of 73.

Phil's life was rooted in faith, service, and compassion for others. From a young age, Phil was deeply connected to his Catholic upbringing, serving as an altar boy at Holy Rosary in the North End where he was raised. Even at just 7 or 8 years old, he knew his calling—to become a firefighter. To Phil, saving lives was not only a good thing, but a godly one.

Phil proudly dedicated 30+ years to the Kansas City, Missouri Fire Department, serving as a dispatcher with unwavering loyalty and commitment. Over the years, he earned high honors and recognition, including being known as one of the most respected and memorable dispatchers in the department. One of the most defining moments of his career came during the tragic Hyatt Regency walkway collapse, when Phil was on call and played a critical role in coordinating emergency response, dispatching units from surrounding towns to assist during the crisis.

After retiring from the fire department, Phil continued his working life with Enterprise Rent-A-Car, where he spent 20 years as a driver. He found just as much joy in this role as he had in dispatching, forming connections, and staying active in his community.

Outside of work, Phil had a deep love for animals, especially his cats, who were truly his family. He took great pride in caring for them, ensuring they had a warm home, the best meals, and even preparing homemade gravy to accompany their food.

In retirement, Phil found happiness in simple pleasures and meaningful friendships. He enjoyed traveling with his dear friend Tom Falzone, delivering cannoli's, lasagna, spaghetti, and meatballs to some of Kansas City's finest restaurants. He also cherished his daily conversations with his close friend Joe Spero, who lived in Florida.

Phil is survived by his relatives: Clarissa Schillings, Nick Coughlin Sr., Pat Hays, Thomas Coughlin, and Rosemary Coughlin. He also leaves behind his common-law wife, Malinda Lynn Paladino, and her three children: Joe Paladino Jr., Daveigh, and Delanee Richardson.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 29th at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with Reflections at 7:30 p.m.

In memory of Phil, memorial contributions are suggested to the Kansas City, Missouri Fire Department; the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital; or organizations who support animals in need.
