Ramon Ramirez was born January 14, 1930, in Kansas City, Missouri and passed away at his home in Kansas City, Kansas on December 28, 2024.
Ramon was a hardworking man who as a teenager had many physically demanding jobs available due to the manpower shortage during World War II. He served in the army and was stationed in Germany from March 1953 to March 1955. After his discharge he returned to Kansas City and worked for many years as a hairdresser at the Adlers department store. He later went on to work at the General Motors Leeds plant from which he retired after 10 years. He enjoyed the large family gatherings with his grandchildren, as well as gardening and maintaining his lawn and plants.
Ramon was preceded in death by his wife Helen Tamayo Ramirez; his parents Ramon and Camila Ramirez, and Ramon and Juanita Olivarez; and his siblings Ramona, Beatriz, Henry, and Jesse. He leaves behind his son Ramon and daughter Maria, as well as 12 grandchildren, four step grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his partner of many years Lorraine Arnone.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 1, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Kansas City, Missouri, where the Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m.
