Ray Thi Nguyen, 84, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away February 10, 2023, at her home surrounded with family.  Visitation & Prayers will be 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Thursday, February 16 ^th , and 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Friday, February 17 ^th , at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 18 ^th , at Church of the Holy Martyrs (Catholic), 7801 Paseo, Kansas City, MO 64131. Burial will follow in Mt. Saint Mary's Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.

Ray was preceded in death by her husband Ngong Van Nguyen, son Mark Trung Nguyen, and grandson Christopher Nguyen.  She is survived by her daughter Thuan Thi Nguyen of Aurora Illinois, son Hoa Trung Nguyen of Lee's Summit, Missouri, daughter Hiep Thi Tran of Raytown, Missouri, daughter Trang Thi Nguyen of Raytown, Missouri, daughter Thanh Kim Thi Nguyen of Richland, Washington, son Thu Trung Nguyen of Spring Hill, Kansas, daughter Hang Thi Nguyen of Olathe, Kansas, her grandchildren Melissa Nguyen, Matthew Nguyen, Tony Nguyen, Megan Nguyen, Brendon Tran, Amber Tran, Christina Nguyen, Alexandria Nguyen, Katie Nguyen, Jeremiah Nguyen, Claire Nguyen, Hailey Vy Nguyen, Hayden Nhi Nguyen, Madelyn Nguyen, Ava Nguyen, Gracie Nguyen, Vanessa Corado, her great-great grandchildren, Lucas Pham, Layla Nguyen, Priscilla Corado, Mario Mark Corado

Ray was born on January 15, 1939, in Vietnam.  She immigrated to America in 1975 during the big immigration rush before the fall of Saigon.  Her journey to the United States was marred with hardship after hardship.  During her journey, she was separated from her husband and 5 kids for over 9 months.  Not knowing where her husband and 5 kids were, she relied on her deep faith in God to help get her through.  She was reunited with her husband and kids after 9 months on Guam Island.  Months after, she then found herself in a foreign country, not able to speak or understand the new language with 7 kids, pregnant with a husband.  She cherished the newfound life God placed in front of her and accepted every situation as God's will.  She raised and molded not only her 8 children, but also her many grand children to be faithful Christians, good citizens and encouraged all her kids to better themselves with opportunities that was never available to her.

Throughout all the hardships Ray endured in life, she faced it head on with her faith in God and her love of family.  She fought a hard fight against kidney disease and was surrounded by her many family members to the end.  She will be forever remembered by everyone that knew her, for her love of life, God and family.
