Obituary

Robert Eugene Krones

Lt. Col.,USMC Ret., Robert Eugene Krones fell peacefully to rest Thursday evening surrounded by his family and friends. He was 83.

Born February 14, 1932 to Patrick and Ethel Krones in Ashkum, Illinois, Bob was the second of five children. After leaving the farm, Bob served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War, later retiring honorably as a Lieutenant Colonel. During his service he met his wife of 52 years, Mayme Jo Reherman in Washington D.C. They returned to Illinois, but eventually found their true home in Liberty, Missouri.

Though stubborn at times, Bob will be remembered for setting an example of what a true family man looks like. He was devoted to his children, his grandchildren, his beautiful wife, his community, and his country. He was truly a great man, and his chair at the head of the table can never be filled.

Bob is preceded in passing by his wife, Mayme Jo Krones, and daughter, Dawn Krones Black. He is survived by his siblings, Duane (Delorace) Krones, Gayle Blanck; children, Daniel, Douglas, Dana, Denise Caffey and spouses; 9 grandchildren & 4 great-grandchildren; his wonderful friend Ima Rahter.

Celebration of Bob's life will take place at St. Jame's Parish, 309 S. Stewart, Liberty, Missouri, on Tuesday, May 12th. Visitation at 9:30am, Mass at 10:30am. Bob will be laid to rest alongside his wife at Leavenworth National Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to The Wounded Warrior Project in Bob's name.
