Rose Marie (Gioia) Passiglia , 82, Independence, MO, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2012, at the Rosewood Health Center. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, September 6, at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 3736 S. Lee's Summit Rd., Independence, MO, 64055. Burial will follow in Mt. Saint Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 5, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO, 64124, where the Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. Visitation will also be 10-11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mark's Church prior to Mass. The family requests no flowers.
Rose Marie was born November 24, 1929, in Kansas City, MO. She was a member of St. Mark's Parish. She was employed by the Kansas City Board of Election Commissioners for over 25 years until her retirement in 1996. She loved to travel and was active in local politics after her retirement.
Rose Marie was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Carl V. Passiglia, in 1987; her parents John and Mary (DiLeonardo) Gioia; and her sister Serafina (Gioia) Cascone. She is survived by her children Charles "Chuck" and Lynda Passiglia, John and Carisa Passiglia; grandchildren Darren and Crystal Nipper, Deanna and Kevin Ensminger; great-grandchildren Jacob Nipper, Mitchell Nipper, Miles Ensminger, Henry Ensminger and Owen Ensminger; nephews Freddie Cascone, Walter Cascone Jr.; nieces Linda (Cascone) Smith and Karen (Passiglia) Dunn; and many great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Rose Marie was a loving mother, grandmother and aunt and will be missed by all.
