Salvatore "Sam" Gerard Joseph Schembri, 68, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024, peacefully in the arms of his beloved wife Catherine, at The University of Kansas Medical Center.

Sam was the son of Angelo and Virginia (LaRosa) Schembri, born on July 9, 1956, in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended Garfield Elementary and Northeast Junior High and was a 1974 graduate of Northeast High School, where he met the love and light of his life Catherine Ann Harris. On November 12, 1977, they married at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kansas City. They were blessed with three beautiful children: Marci, Angela, and Sam Jr.

In his spare time, he loved the craft of woodworking and working on different projects. He made many outdoor furniture pieces for his family. Sam was also an avid Chiefs and Royals fan, never missing a game.

Sam leaves his family to sadly mourn his loss: his wife of 46 years, Catherine, of the home; his daughters Marci Schembri of Liberty, and Angela Schembri (Luke Furne) of Kearney; his son Salvatore "Sam" Schembri, Jr. (Maggie Mishler) of Kansas City; his grandchildren Adriana Schembri (Caleb Frasier), Giovanni Schembri, and Adalynne Locke; great-grandsons Theo and Ozzy Frasier; sisters Margaret Schroeder (Ron), Lucille LanFranca, and Diana Wenzl; and numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents Angelo and Virginia Schembri; father-in-law Jay Harris; mother-in-law Marlene Harris; brother-in-law Tom LanFranca; his grandparents; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Services will be held on Friday, October 18, at St. James Catholic Church in Liberty, MO. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by Reflections at 11:45 a.m. and the Funeral Mass at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request memorial contributions be made to Catherine Schembri.
