Salvatore (Sam) Carl Maggio passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022, at the age of 76, surrounded by family and friends.

Sam was born on December 19, 1945, in Kansas City, Missouri and was the third of three children to Jasper and Angela Maggio. Sam grew up and spent his entire life in Kansas City where he later raised his three sons, Sam, Vince, and Anthony. Sam spent twenty-five years as a member of Teamsters Local 41 where he embarked on adventures all over the country as an over the road truck driver, amassing stories that he loved to share with his friends and family. After retiring from Local 41, Sam spent the remainder of his working years with his sons at Freeway Market where he is affectionately known as "Pops" to his customers. Sam was an avid outdoorsman and could be found hunting or fishing any chance he got, a tradition that lives on today through his children and grandchildren.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper and Angela Maggio; his son, Anthony Maggio; and his brother, Joseph A. Maggio Sr. Sam is survived by his sons Sam (Kathy) and Vince (Diana); his sister Anna Anzalone (Vince); his grandchildren Tony Maggio, Tommy Maggio, Sammy Maggio, Victoria Valenti, and Vincent Maggio; and his many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Don Hoffmeier, Vince Anzalone, Tony Maggio, Tommy Maggio, Sammy Maggio, Vincent Maggio, Vince Cuezze, and Nick Cuezze.

Honorary Pallbearers will be William Cammisano Jr., Vince Cammisano, Anthony "Butch" Spino, Ronnie Arens, Joseph Maggio, and Joe Ferris.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with the Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m. on Monday, November 28, 2022, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Burial will be privately held on a later date.
