Obituary

Scott Kennedy William Buffa, Sr., age 69, of Kansas City, MO passed away peacefully the morning of May 12, 2025, after more than two years of being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He was surrounded by his wife and children. On Thursday, May 15, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m. followed by Visitation 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. On Friday, May 16, the Funeral Mass will begin 10:00  a.m. also at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Mausoleum.

Scott was born on November 25, 1955, in St. Louis, MO to Henry and Bette Buffa. From a young age, he enjoyed anything sports-related and went on to be a gifted athlete at Parkway North High School where he "made it happen" on the baseball and football fields. His talent earned him a two-sport scholarship to William Jewell College, where he continued his sports career. At William Jewell, he was a proud member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity and was also captain of his football team. Through his fraternity brother / roommate / best friend, he met the love of his life, Delores Siraguso in 1978. Following her college graduation, Delores and Scott married and made a home in Kansas City where they raised their daughter and two sons. "Family-oriented" does not even begin to describe Scott. His happiest moments were spending quality time around the dinner table, watching sports, and joking with or pulling pranks on his loved ones. Known to be loyal and protective, Scott cared about his family and friends above all else. He coached multiple generations of family members in sports - be it football, softball, baseball, basketball, swimming, even tennis. He lived by the philosophy that true wealth lies not in possessions but in the happiness of his family and friends. A natural-born salesman, Scott's gregarious personality made him successful in food and beverage sales. After retiring, he devoted his time to golfing, going out with his buddies, and watching his grandsons.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents; brother Robert Buffa; and father-in-law and mother-in-law Ralph and Rose Siraguso. He is survived by his dedicated wife of 43 years, Delores Siraguso Buffa; his children Roselynn Buffa Zicarelli (Nick), Henry Andrew Vincent Buffa II (Alexandria), Scott Buffa, Jr.; grandsons Anthony Scott Zicarelli, Andrew Salvatore Zicarelli, Bennie Scott Buffa; his sisters Allison Shaw (Bill) and Barbara Buchanan (Scott); godson Tony John Civella; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Nick and Maria LaBruzzo, Frank and Tammy Siraguso, Dr. Vincent and Carol Jo Siraguso, and Sue Buffa. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, and countless close friends.

The Pallbearers are Nick LaBruzzo, Frank Paul Siraguso, Sr., Dr. Vincent Siraguso, and best friends Vince Civella, Gary Semple, and Gary Sullivan.

The Buffa family would like to thank The University of Kansas Medical Center, specifically Cambridge 11th Floor Oncology, including Piper, Valerie, Shannon C, and Brynn for their extraordinary care for Scott over the last two years. We would also like to express our gratitude to KC Home Hospice for their support and comfort of not only Scott but of our family.
