Steve Caruso, 92, passed away Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Kansas City Hospice House following a year and a half battle with lung cancer.
Steve was born October 20, 1920 to Sebastian and Salvatricia Caruso. He served in the United States Army as a sergeant during World War II. He worked in sales for various beverage and vending companies before he retired. Steve was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Pauline Caruso, in 1993.
He is survived by his daughter Patricia Phillips with husband Jim and their sons Zachary Phillips, Joshua Phillips and James "Jas" Phillips; son Samuel Caruso with wife Anita and their children Sam Caruso, Paula Baggiani with husband Spencer Baggiani and their two sons Dominic and Sam; son Stephen Caruso with wife Laura Caruso and their children Stephen Patrick, Susan with husband Reid Hewlitt and their daughter Cicily Hewlitt.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124, where the Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, December 27, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 911 E. Missouri Ave., Kansas City, MO 64106. Burial will follow in Mt. Saint Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Kansas City Hospice House.
