It is with profound sorrow our family announces the loss of a husband, father, brother, and friend – Steve Thomas Gialde "Doc", 78, of Bates City, Missouri. He transitioned peacefully into the loving arms of our Lord, surrounded by his wife and dogs, on November 5, 2023.

We welcome everyone to commemorate Doc's legacy and celebrate his life from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Saturday, November 11, 2023, at the Elk's Lodge 100 NE Brizendine Road, Blue Springs, Missouri 64014.

It was on October 2, 1945, Thomas J. and Angeline (Cicero) Gialde were blessed with the gift of their second son. Starting at the early age of seven is when his appreciation for hard work and the development of many lifelong friendships would blossom whilst working alongside his grandfather, Steve Cicero, at the Brooklyn Fruit Market. And for those who knew Doc, can attest that is where he cut his teeth on many of the boundless jokes and stories he loved to share – stories and jokes that we will dearly miss.

While raised in Kansas City, Missouri, more specifically on Olive Street – his impact would transcend well beyond just that community. After graduating from DeLaSalle High School in 1963, he continued on to the University of Missouri – Kansas City and eventually earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Kansas City University in 1972. He immediately began practicing at the Blue Valley Medical Clinic but would come to make his home and so many meaningful relationships for the following 47 years at the Oak Grove Medical Clinic, later retiring in January 2023. He was a loving father who taught his girls to make as many friends as possible, because next to family, having a network of friends makes life richer. He also made sure that his girls knew that they could be anything they wanted to be if you are willing to work hard and learn from your mistakes.

It is no surprise to anyone the passion he discovered at an early age for the game of golf – there were not many sunny Saturdays you wouldn't find him on the green of the local golf course with any number of his friends. However, he loved spending the majority of his free time exercising his motto of Having Fun Every Day at home with his wife, Nichol, their three pups, and their plentiful wildlife. And immensely proud of each of his grandchildren, he was sure to seize every opportunity to dote on their success and kind spirits.

Being an active member of so many local organizations like the American Sons of Columbus, Elk's Lodge #2509, and a previous Oak Grove R-VI School Board member it is obvious he had a lot of faces to remember. But it is no doubt what will be remembered most about him was the selfless dedication he had to anyone he held close, the care and compassion he showed all his patients, and his million-dollar smile.

Proceeding him in death include his grandparents, Joseph and Josephine Gialde, Steve and Isabele Cicero; parents, Thomas J. and Angeline (Cicero) Gialde; brother, Thomas J. Gialde JR; sister-in-law, Mary T. Gialde; mother-in-law, Donna Bays; and sister-in-law, Maegan Bays.

Doc is survived by his beloved wife, Nichol Gialde and three dogs, Hazel, Dutch, Tilda of the home; his three daughters, Angela Ridpath (Roger) of Kansas City, Missouri; Marianne Cascone (Victor) of Gladstone, Missouri; and Stephanie Mortallaro (Joseph) of Blue Springs, Missouri; stepson, Tyler Freeman of Odessa, Missouri; two brothers, Dr. Joseph S. Gialde (Mary) of North Kansas City, Missouri, Thomas M. Gialde (Tracey) of Kansas City, Missouri; one sister, Mary Teresa Calcara (Gary) of Gladstone, Missouri; and the mother of his children, Joanne (Abbott) Gialde. His legacy continues with his many cherished cousins; grandchildren; nieces; nephews; beloved coworkers, and patients; but even more friends.

Honorary pallbearers include Donnie Micelli, Nate Giacomo, Jim Tharp, Anthony Barber, Nick Fazzino, Frank Cascone, and Larry Gialde.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make a charitable contribution to the Truman Heartland Community Foundation for the Dr. Steve Gialde Memorial Fund for the benefit and support of the foundations he held close.
