Obituary

Steven John Yeager, 61, passed away on March 1, 2017, at his home.

Steve was born on March 22, 1955, in Kansas City, MO, to Dorothy and Carl "Fritz" Yeager.  Steve lived his entire life in Northeast Kansas City and worked for Missouri Pacific Railroad which later became Union Pacific.  He retired from Union Pacific in 2015.  Steve spent a lot of time playing softball behind the Montgomery Ward building and loved spending time with friends at the local drinking establishments in the neighborhood.  He loved bowling and had recently re-joined the family team after retiring.  Steve had a passion for local sports teams, especially the Chiefs and Royals.

Steve's brother Ken stated our feelings best in saying, "He was a son, a brother, a father, a brother-in-law, a grandfather, an uncle and a best friend to whomever he met along his life journey.  A wild soul with a hard head but a soft heart, not exactly a saint but always willing to help out anybody in need, a stranger was only that until their first encounter with Steve, everybody's best friend."

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Carl Yeager and his younger brother, Timothy Yeager. Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Yeager; sons, Jason (Dawn) and Jeff; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Hailey, and Tori; fiancé Tami Smith (Adam and Katie) of the home; brothers Ken (Lauren) and Joe; nephews Nathan and Derek, and niece Leah.
