Sylvia Bonura DeLuna, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. Her beautiful smile, generosity of spirit, and quiet strength left an indelible impression on the people fortunate enough to know her.

Born in New Orleans on September 20, 1947, she graduated from Ursuline Academy in 1966. She built an exciting and fulfilling career as an interior designer, decorating private homes, hotels, and local restaurants with the same elegance and beauty that came naturally to her.

Her everyday joys and hobbies included cooking, baking, fishing, and long conversations over morning coffee with her family and friends. Most importantly, she was a mother who loved deeply, a doting grandmother, and a loyal friend whose generosity knew no bounds.

She was an avid supporter of St. Jude Children’s Hospital. When faced with her own illness, her courage was astounding. She confronted each challenge head-on without complaint, and she never allowed fear to define her journey. Her faith in Christ sustained her, and she carried it with her to the very end.

She is survived by the love of her life Frank DeLuna; her daughters Elizabeth DeLuna Foster (Robert) and Khristina DeLuna Miller (Kerry); and her three grandchildren Nicholas James Miller, Maximilian Edward Miller, and Isabella Marie Foster, who will forever hold in their hearts the memories of movie nights (Max), shopping trips (Izzy), and Disney vacations (Nicky) with their one and only “Gomie.”

She was preceded in death by her parents Felix and Irma Bonura, and she is mourned by her sister, Felicia Bonura Boggio, as well as her many nieces and nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Sylvia’s funeral services on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home and Cemeteries, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation begins at 12:00 PM until her Funeral Mass at 2:00 PM. Interment to follow at All Saints Mausoleum on the same grounds.
