Sylvia Ann Simone, 74, passed away on April 29, 2017. The Rosary will be prayed at 3:30 p.m. followed by Visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. and the Funeral Mass at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 309 Benton Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124. Sylvia will be cremated following the services according to her wishes.

Sylvia was born October 6, 1942, to Joseph M. and Katherine Distefano, and attended Holy Rosary School and Northeast High School.  On April 23, 1960, she married John Simone.  Sylvia was very active at St. Anthony's Parish where she ran the food pantry and the St. Joseph's Table for many years.  She was a very faith-filled woman and enjoyed reading at church and serving as a Eucharistic minister. Sylvia loved playing cards and slot machines and spending time with her family, especially watching her grandkids participate in sports.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, John Distefano. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, John J. Simone; her son, John G. Simone (Rose); her daughter, Julie A. Hughes (Jeff); her grandchildren, Robert Lawrence, Katherine Lawrence, Hannah Simone, Hope Simone, and Mia Simone; sister, Rose Cuccia; brothers, Nick Distefano (Karen) and Carl Distefano (Trish); sisters-in-law, Florence Distefano, Dorothy Simone, and Carol Simone; and many dear nieces, nephews, and friends.
