Obituary

Theresa L. Manzella, 85, loving mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on October 29, 2021, at Overland Park Homestead Nursing Home.

Theresa was born September 6, 1936, in Kansas City MO to Flora (Sorrentino) and Frank Baccala. She attended Glennon High school and through friends she met her husband, Tony. They were married on April 4, 1956, and had three children: Diana, Anthony, and Frank. Theresa was a homemaker most of her life. At one time, Tony and Theresa owned and operated a bakery in Raytown called A-tee-M Bakery. Then in the early 90's they owned and operated Tony's Delicatessen where many regular customers loved to come and taste her wonderful cooking. Theresa was active in her church as an usher along with her husband at every Saturday night Mass and enjoyed baking and working the yearly St. Joseph's Table at St Thomas More. She had numerous friends and belonged to many clubs. The Monday Night Club was formed with 12 girls that all graduated high school together and wanted to stay in touch, a bond that lasted their entire lives, even getting noticed by the KC Star. That club is still strong today. She also enjoyed her Tuesday's Card Club. Theresa though was most proud of her grandchildren who fondly remember her as Nani.  She will be missed by many friends and family.

Theresa was preceded in death by her husband Tony; her parents Frank and Flora Baccala; her brother Nick Baccala; and her sisters Marie Husbenet, Sr. Margaret Baccala, Gen Zeffiro, Dorothy Lamb and Dolores Adams. She is survived by her daughter Diana Manzella; her sons and daughters-in-law Anthony and Sharon Manzella, and Frank and Monica Manzella; her grandchildren Franchesca Klinger (Jacob), Lucas, Tyler, and Blake Manzella; her sister and brother-in-law Deva and Charlie Flahive; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. with the Funeral Mass at 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 6, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Mount Olivet Mausoleum.
