Theresa Marie
Occhipinti
Dec 3, 1925 — Jun 14, 2019
Theresa Marie (Risalvato) Occhipinti, 93, passed away peacefully at Our Lady of Mercy Country Home Friday, June 14, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be 12 p.m. with the Rosary at 1 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, at St Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 6415 NE Antioch Rd. Gladstone, MO 64119. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Mausoleum.
Theresa was born December 3, 1925, in Kansas City, MO, to Giovanni and Gerolama (Ancona) Risalvato. In 1948 she met and married the love of her life, Natale Occhipinti. Together they raised a family of four children. Theresa was a typical Italian American mom. She was our Ma and Nonni. Everything in her life revolved around her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and husband. She has left a giant empty space in our lives. Sundays at Nonni's house was special. The door was always open and there was plenty of food for all. Not only did she love to cook, but she was always baking something, especially Italian cookies and treats for Easter and Christmas. She was a devoted Catholic and prayer warrior. If you had a need she had a prayer.
Theresa is survived by her children, Salvatore and Annette Occhipinti, Nadine and Jimmy Calcara, Gerry and Randy Jackson, and Anthony and Carolyn Occhipinti; grandchildren, Anthony and Renita Occhipinti, Natalie Occhipinti, Tony Mike and Toni Michele Calcara, Theresa and James Rich, Phillip and Brenda Calcara, Chris Jackson, Ben Jackson, Anthony Joseph Occhipinti, and Sofia Occhipinti; great-grandchildren, Alex, Caroline and Serena Occhipinti, Anthony James "AJ" Calcara, Isabella, Mia, and Gianna Calcara; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, her parents, and all of her siblings.
Pallbearers: Anthony Thomas Occhipinti, Tony Mike Calcara, AJ Calcara, Anthony Joseph Occhipinti, James Rich, Chris Jackson, and Ben Jackson.
Our family wishes to thank the staff of Our Lady of Mercy Country Home for their compassionate, loving and constant attentive care. Also, we want to thank Tillie Bengimina for being such a good, loving friend to Mom during her stay.
