Thomas Matthew Lewis, 54, was born September 28, 1966 in Kansas City, Missouri, and passed away Wednesday October 28, 2020 at University of Kansas Health System with his wife and two children at his side. He fought esophageal cancer with grace, strength, and an immense amount of love for just under one year. Funeral services will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, KCMO, on Saturday November 7, 2020 with a Visitation beginning at 9 a.m. with the Mass immediately following at 11 a.m. Entombment will be at Resurrection Mausoleum, KC North. Masks and social distancing will be strictly enforced for the services.

Tom was a loving husband and father. Every choice he made in life was for his children and their future successes in life. To know Tom was to know a loyal friend, an honest opinion, a hard worker and a light that could fill any room. Tom worked tirelessly for the St. Louis - Kansas City Regional Carpenters Union for 25 years where he created a network of friends and loyal coworkers. He loved watching all sports but most importantly he loved watching his children, Megan and Matthew, play soccer, baseball, basketball and football throughout the years. His most proud dad moments were watching his son continue his soccer career through college and into the professional level.

Tom's greatest accomplishments were seeing his family succeed in all aspects of life. Including watching his daughter receive both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees and watching his son lead his collegiate soccer team to the Elite 8 during his senior year. He was also very proud of his nieces and nephews and thought of them as his own. His most favorite time spent, however, was loving on his new great-niece who brought him so much joy.

Tom will be greatly missed by so many friends and family from all stages of his life, including his parents, two brothers, nieces and nephews, and most deeply by his wife of 28 years and his daughter (26) and son (24). Tom was a family man through and through. He was the glue that kept the family together and kept the laughter coming during every family get together and holiday.

Dad, we love you for forever and will carry on your wit, happiness and love for your family. We thank you for everything you sacrificed for us in our life and your unwavering support through all our endeavors. Rest easy and we will take it from here.

Tom was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Kathryn Davis and Miriam Gammage.

Survivors include wife Mikki Lewis; children Megan and Matthew Lewis and future son-in-law Joshua Stricker; parents Mike and Mary Lewis; brothers Tim and Jay Lewis; nieces and nephews Crystal VanOver, Austin Lewis, Dominic Hernandez and Chloe VanOver; aunts, uncles and many cousins.
