Thomas Ruffolo, 85, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Vitas Hospice. Visitation will be 9-10:45 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 911 E. Missouri Ave., Kansas City, MO 64106, where the Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Vitas Hospice or Holy Rosary Parish.
Tom was born September 14, 1928, in Westchester Square, The Bronx, to George and Mary (Contrare) Ruffolo. He worked as a regional manufacturers representative for Emerson Electric and United Technologies Inc. He was secretary of the American Sons of Columbus, and was a U.S. Navy veteran. Tom enjoyed swimming and boxing, and loved investing in the stock market.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, David Rex Moore; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, George Mangiaracina, Notzie and Vita Rotolo, Anthony Amaro; nephew, Joseph Palmentere; nieces, Mary Therese Furlong, Kathy Blair, Jeanene Bruscato; and great-nephew, Joey Palmentere.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Jean (Sola) Ruffolo; daughter, Maria Jean Moore; grandsons, Michael Thomas Moore and Taylor Russell Moore; sisters, Kathleen Palmentere, Irene Hunter; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, George and Rama Sola, Antoinette Mangiaracina, Lucille Amaro, Minnie and Jay Scardino; nephew, Benjamin Palmentere; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family offers their thanks to Brother Simon of Research Medical Center and the staff of Vitas Hospice for the care given to Tom.
