Obituary

Thomas Joseph Simone, 65, passed away January 14, 2023. Services will be held on Monday, January 23, 2023 at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Gladstone, Mo. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.  Private inurnment will be at a later date at Mt. Saint Mary's Cemetery where Tom will be placed at rest with his loving parents.

Tom was born on March 16, 1957 to Thomas and Savina Simone in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the youngest of four children; often called the 'Baby Brother'. He grew up in the Northland with a close-knit family of siblings and many cousins. Tom loved his old childhood neighborhood, regularly playing and swimming with his cousins and friends.  He was especially proud of his Italian-American heritage; periodically working on the family's genealogy. Tom attended St. Pius X High School, graduating in 1975. He was still in constant contact with his grade school and high school friends; having a strong long-lasting connection. Following high school, Tom began his lifelong career in the travel industry.  He took special pride in arranging travel adventures for his clients. One of his specialties was destination weddings, especially planning these for his closest friends and family members. Tom always loved traveling and had many wonderful trips and experiences throughout his lifetime. Some of his favorite places were London, Italy, France, and Alaska.

Tom loved watching sports, especially for his nephews and nieces. He frequently attended the St. Pius X Friday night football games. He immeasurably enjoyed his softball team and in recent years was the team manager.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents, sister Anna Marie, nephew Tommy Simone, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Survivors include brother Anthony Simone (Edie); sister Mary Jo Giacomo (John); brother-in-law John (Dorothy) Sciortino; nieces and nephews; Tom (Victoria) Sciortino, Savina (Donnie) Raybourn, RoseAngela (Brent) Taney, Savina (John) Liberto, Rosemarie (Phil) Marsalla, Anthony (Kristin) Simone, Charlie (Adriana) Simone. Tom is also survived by many great-nieces and nephews. Tom leaves a huge group of friends, many who are like family to him; always loving, supporting, and helping him for decades.

Tom's absence on earth is already missed but we are sure his reunion with his parents and sister was amazing!
