Tommie Mitchell, 72, passed away June 22, 2022.

Tommie, my love, my best friend. He was a blessing to his family.

His parents preceded him in death, Tommie and Anna. He leaves behind his loving wife Connie Mitchell; his children Amy Ann Mitchell, Nycki Pace Law (Mike), Heather Pace (David), Joseph Spinello Pace (Lauren); special Abby and Dan; his beautiful granddaughters he was so proud of, Jen and Jessa Baldwin; his best friend and brother Kenny McGaugh (Rita); Frank Bironi, one-of-a-kind family; and sister-in-law Bernadette Goetz. His extension of family was everywhere. His love and easy-going nature spread to close family and friends – old & new. He was one of a kind.

My Tommie – When we connected in life, I knew I found love. We flourished. We combined ourselves and became one. We went forward, and boy did we. Our families merged and was he in for a surprise! He loved every minute and I know they loved him.

First was our first Pace family, opened their arms and hearts. Thank you. You, Joe and Sue, Jeff and Ann Marie, and all to follow, lots of love.

Second: Cul de sac family. They accepted me and my children with open arms and still live here. Lots of love – love you all (so many stories).

Third: Tommie – Gladstone family, Kenny and Rita, Bobby, Jeff and Sadie, Jason, Ronnie, and I could name all day! Friends for life and great stories – all true!

Fourth: His Northern Collision friends. Again Frank, Steve Nelson, Danny Biggs and so many more – so many stories.

Fifth: Later in life – Raytown Slot Car – wow – opened up another chapter. His buddy and BBQ lunch before racing Scott and others. More stories.

Sixth: His friends from Galen Boyer later years. Tim and Jackie. More stories.

When Tommie made friends, they were always there and still are. Thank you! He cherished all.

He was able to have one of his bucket list, his Hot Rod 1937 Pontiac. His blue beauty. He built her his way! He also went back to Slot Car. Started when he was a kid (Antioch Mall) and found Raytown Slot Cars. He was having a blast and made more great friends.

His love for music you will hear. He would sing at night. I would just smile just smile and sometimes laugh and then he would too! We had great memories of our annual trips to Florida and our trips to Disney World, which earned him the nickname 'Grumpy'. He granddaughters always got him a new t-shirt every time.

His family – way before me – were so excited when he came into this world. He was an only child, but sometimes, and you would not believe it, he was spoiled rotten. He would tell me no one took care of him or spoiled him more. His mother was first, and I stepped in and fell in love as we settled into our great life. When he got older, he would tell me only one other person took care of him more than his mother, and that was me. So when he was a brat, he would blame me!!

When Tommie got to retire and start relaxing and opened new chapters to enjoy what really mattered all the time and life, which I am so happy for, always remember to say I love you, give one of those hugs and kisses.

A few of Joey's friends sent me a few messages. They called Tommie "The Platinum Corner Café card holder." You could catch him there and Tommie was always forthcoming with knowledge and experience for all who asked.

Tommie was especially happy and proud that Amy found a new beginning in life and was doing great - new job and a special man in life. He loved you so much!

Tommie loved with all his heart. His love for me was so unique. I miss him and I will never forget it was so much fun. We had our wedding in 2006 and we continued our life together for 27 great years. Tommie was a quiet man at time, always there for me and his family no matter what. I was so blessed to fall in love with Tommie. He told me he loved me every day and night. He was a keeper. He did not judge me or change me, just would say "that's my Connie." I miss him so much. My heart is so full of our life together. We shared so much love, family, our children, our granddaughters – togetherness. You are gone but will not be forgotten. You have no more pain. You are at peace now. You fought a tough battle in the end. Thank you for our life together. I miss you and will see you. Love, Connie

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29, at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, Gladstone, MO.
