In Loving Memory of Victor Joseph Mancuso, 64, who peacefully passed away on August 8, 2023, at KU Medical Center, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on February 21, 1959, Victor was a dedicated lifelong resident of the historic Columbus Park Neighborhood, a place he held dear to his heart.

Victor was preceded in death by his parents, James F. Sr. and Florence A. (Mangiaracina) Mancuso, his brother John M. Mancuso, sister-in-law Anna C. Mancuso, and two very special cousins John Carl Masucci, and JoLynn Distasio.

He is survived by the love of his life, Sarah (affectionately known as Miss K), along with his brothers Michael, James Jr., and Vincent. He also leaves behind his caring sister-in-law Janet. Among those mourning his loss are nieces and nephews Jimmy (Angela), Jay, Angela, Florence (Tony), and Christi. Additionally, he is remembered by his five great nieces and a great nephew, and a host of cousins who cherished their bond with him, treating him as a true brother.

Vic was a proud graduate of Northeast High School's class of 1978. His exuberant personality was larger than life itself. Vic was always known for his jokes that would leave anyone smiling. His quick-witted nature and innate charm made him an instant friend to everyone he encountered. Vic's heart was a haven for animals of all kinds; he provided care and love to countless creatures over the years.

Vic's profound love for music encompassed a wide spectrum, with a special fondness for the timeless melodies of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. His connection to their music ignited during his childhood, evolving into an enduring passion that spanned decades. Vic maintained a friendship with Frankie Valli for over 46 years.

Vic was captivated by the art of construction. From a very young age his collection of tools mirrored his insatiable curiosity, and he was a frequent presence at local construction sites, a perpetual student of the craft. During his time at Dasta Construction, he honed his skills and accumulated wisdom. With aspirations of self-employment, Vic and his brother, Vincent, took the bold step of founding Mancuso Construction. They worked as partners as General Contractors for decades. Together, they constructed many buildings around the KC Metro Area both in commercial and light industrial. They were honored to be involved in many projects at the Country Club Plaza.

An embodiment of meticulousness, Vic's dedication to quality was second to none. The construction industry revered him as the ultimate resource, the "go-to guy" for any inquiry. His wisdom was a gift he shared selflessly, driven not by financial gain or recognition, but by a genuine concern for others. His generosity knew no bounds.

Engaging in a relentless battle against a rare blood disorder that persisted for over 6 years, Vic demonstrated remarkable resilience. As the disorder evolved into an intricate complex form of Leukemia, which is when he started on a medical journey at KU Medical Center in September 2022. A warrior through and through, he braved multiple rounds of chemotherapy, culminating in a long-awaited bone marrow transplant in June 2023—a beacon of hope to save his life. Even in the face of relentless aggression from his cancer, Vic's wit, charm, and humor remained unswayed.

Within the medical community, Vic was not only a patient but a light of laughter. His anecdotes and humor resonated through the hospital unit, leaving an indelible mark on all who crossed his path. His impact was instantaneous, endearing him to the hearts of those he encountered— doctors, nurses, staff alike.

With deep gratitude, Vic acknowledged his medical team. He held a special place in his heart for the caregivers at KU Medical Center and The Westwood Clinic, as well as the anonymous overseas donor who lent him strength in his battle. Above all, Vic made it a point to express his boundless gratitude to his devoted caregivers, Sarah and his brother Vincent. Their unwavering presence and tireless dedication by his side throughout every moment of this journey brought him immeasurable comfort and solace. Vic's heartfelt appreciation for their steadfast companionship resonated with everyone he encountered, a testament to the profound impact of their care during both day and night.

As we reflect on the life of Victor Joseph Mancuso, let us remember him for his vibrant spirit, his ability to bring joy to any room, and his unwavering love for family and animals. He has left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the warmth of the memories he created and the love he shared.

Services will be held on Monday, August 14, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the Funeral Mass at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
