Vincent P. Accurso passed away on January 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Vince was born on August 2, 1940, in Kansas City, Missouri to Giocchino (Jack) Accurso and Vicenzia (Jennie) Russo Accurso. As the only son with five older sisters, he was his father's pride and joy. Although his father tragically passed away when Vince was just four years old, Vince still fondly remembered often sitting on the counter of his father's grocery store off Independence Avenue in Northeast Kansas City, the area of Kansas City where Vince grew up. Vince attended Assumption/St. Anthony's grade school and later Cardinal Glennon High School, graduating in 1957.  After graduating high school, Vince joined the United States Air Force where he was a munitions specialist at Whiteman Air Force Base. After leaving the Air Force, Vince attended Donnelly College earning an Associate of Science degree.

Vince married the love of his life Maria Brancato on October 22, 1966, at St. Augustine's Catholic Church.  Together they had two children, Jack and Jenne. For Vince, family was everything, and he took immense pride and joy in his children and grandchildren.

Vince was a dedicated, long-time member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 124, where he rose to the rank of master electrician and contributed his expertise to several boards and committees. A proud union advocate, Vince also played an active role in the Jackson County Democratic Party, earning the prestigious Harry S. Truman Award for his exceptional service and commitment. He was also a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Unico, Camporeale Society, Club Campofelice di Fitalia, and Elks Lodge Number 26.

A true enthusiast of life, Vince found joy in the simplest of pleasures… he enjoyed nurturing his treasured fig trees, driving his red Miata convertible with the top down on a sunny day, shooting a hot roll at the craps table, dancing the west coast swing at Italian weddings, listening to a Charlie Parker record, eating a big dish of pasta with sugu on Sundays, playing poker with his long-time card group, having daily breakfast with his ROMEO (Retired Old Men Eating Out) club, and watching his Kansas City Chiefs win.

Vince had a remarkable sense of humor and a smile that could light up any room, leaving behind countless fond memories for all who knew him. His love of life, his generous heart, and his sense of humor will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate to have crossed his path. Vince had a rare gift of making everyone he met feel truly special.

Vince is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Jennie Accurso, his wife Maria J. Accurso , his son Jack S. Accurso, his grandson John V. Bryant, his sisters Frances Kramos, Ninfa Accurso, Virginia Williams, Neva Nicholson, and Anna Marie McNeil, his nephews Mario Sal Brancato and Steve Brancato, his sisters-in-law Helen Brancato and Carmeline Brancato, and his brothers-in-law Malcolm Williams, Donald Nicholson, James McNeil, Sal Brancato, and Nate Brancato.

Vince leaves behind his beloved daughter Jenne Accurso Bryant, and Jenne's husband Dwight Irvin, grandsons Oliver Bryant and August Bryant, granddaughter Antonia Greet, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Vince's family expresses its sincere gratitude to his amazing caregiver Jackie Stigliano and the staff at Brighton Hospice for their personal, loving attention.

Services will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 12:00 p.m. Entombment will be at Mount Olivet Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Jack S. Accurso Memorial Scholarship Fund at Rockhurst High School or the Jackson County Democratic Committee , two causes Vince held dear.
