Violet Delena Mistretta, age 78, passed away surrounded by her family on November 10, 2024, at home from complications of diabetes. Services will be held on Sunday, November 17th, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a celebration of life service starting at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be on Tuesday, November 19th, at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Kearney, Missouri.
Violet was born on November 21st, 1945, in Heavener, Oklahoma. She worked at Hallmark Cards for many years as an executive secretary, and at Northland Pediatrics until she retired.
She was preceded in death by her parents Raleigh Eugene Morton and Sara Jane Brown Morton; her siblings Joe Morton, Beverly Morton, Alma Morton, Thelma Morton and Carl Morton; sisters–in–law Frances Vitale, Josephine Mistretta; brother-in-law Pete Mistretta; nephew Paul Mistretta; and her beloved granddaughter Roseann Cangelosi.
Violet is survived by her husband John Mistretta, with whom she just celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this past October; and her children Delena Mistretta and her husband Sam Cangelosi, John Mistretta and his wife Michelle, and Laura Mistretta Inge and her husband Brian Inge. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren Nina Cangelosi, Vincent Cangelosi, Anthony Inge, and Violet Inge; her beautiful great-grandchildren Ava Poelma and Gordon Poelma; and other surviving family members including Beverly Morton, Tommy and Barbara Morton, Jimmy and Carol Morton, Christine Morton Lessley and Terry Lessley, Tony and Neva Mistretta, John Scire, Sherry Mistretta, and Margie Mistretta.
Violet was a loving wife, an incredible mother, and an amazing grandma who will be missed by all, including many nieces, nephews, cousins and amazing friends.
Honorary Pallbearers are Vincent Cangelosi, Anthony Inge, Gordon Poelma, Benny Scire and Tom Newton.
