Virginia M.
Digiovanni
Jun 20, 1938 — Nov 13, 2023
Virginia M. (DiBella) DiGiovanni, 85, of Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 13, 2023, surrounded by her children.
Virginia was born on June 20, 1938, to Joseph and Santina (Nasello) DiBella. She attended St. Peter Catholic Grade School and St. Theresa Academy. Virginia married the love of her life George J. DiGiovanni and started their life together in 1956. She was known for her ambitious work ethic and together they worked at the City Market selling produce and seasonally selling Christmas Trees for over 25 years. She was also known for her role at Tiger's Records during the 70's and early 80's. Virginia then became a receptionist at a beauty salon for several years where she enjoyed meeting and greeting each and every client. After leaving the beauty salon, Virginia became the face of Georgie D's Deli. During her time there she was affectionately known as "Mama" by many of the Ford customers.
Virginia especially enjoyed spending time with her family, whether it was a girl's family trip to Branson or hanging out with her son and grandsons at the Firework Stands. Her one real passion was spending countless hours with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to whom she was known as "Memaw". She never met a stranger, had a sense of humor, and anyone who knew her loved her.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Santina DiBella; George DiGiovanni; sons-in-law Joe Oberle and Pete Cuezze; brothers-in-law Don Weber, Joe Cuda, Joe Ragusa and Frank Poppa; and sister-in-law Geraldine Ragusa.
She is survived by her three children Gina Oberle, Dina (Mark) Hill and Joe (Angela) DiGiovanni; sisters Micheline Weber, Antoinette (Sonny) Gurriere, Carol Poppa and Annita Cuda (Joe Vitale); along with many nieces and nephews; grandchildren include John Oberle, Angela (Jimmy) Mancuso, Pete (Melanie) Cuezze, Nick (Jocelyn) Oberle, Joseph (Andrea) DiGiovanni, Anthony DiGiovanni (Cassie) and Joe Vince Oberle; and great-grandchildren Lilliana, Marina, Gabriella, Averi, Charlee and Rocco.
The Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. followed by Visitation 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 16, at St. James Catholic Church in Liberty, MO. The Funeral Mass will 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 17, at St. James Church. Burial will be at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers: John Oberle, Pete Cuezze, Nick Oberle, Joseph DiGiovanni, Anthony DiGiovanni, Joe Vince Oberle and Jimmy Mancuso.
