Obituary

Virginia (Sciortino) Ginneman passed away Sunday, November 27, 2016, in Independence, MO, at the age of 85. The Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Memorial Visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 1, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124.
Virginia was born February 13, 1931, in Kansas City, MO, to John and Virginia (LaBruzzo) Sciortino. She worked most of her life as a bookkeeper for Roma Bakery and later at Simply Sicilian Italian Restaurant in Blue Springs. She was known as "Aunt Gigi" by many of her family and was a straight talker with a feisty Italian energy. She was not very tall, but had a powerful voice and a very sensitive and generous heart. Her home was always open to family and friends, and she loved the company of others. She enjoyed playing cards, going to the casinos with her sisters, cooking, camping at or spending time near the Lake of the Ozarks, and sharing time with her family and friends.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Walt Ginneman; her parents; brothers, Manuel, Jesse, Bennie, and Nick Sciortino; and sisters, Rose Spears, Lena Castelluccio, Kathryn Taylor, and Mary Panethere. Survivors include her sisters, Betty Seredich and Josephine Bermel; brother-in-law, Joseph Panethere; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
