Virginia Catherine Gioia, 98, passed away February 13, 2022. The Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m. with Visitation at 11:00 a.m. and the Funeral Mass at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, February 21, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Saint Mary's Cemetery.

Virginia was born in Kansas City, MO, on June 6, 1923, to the late Frank and Anna (Consolo) Gioia who came to United States from Sicily in the early 1900's. She was a floral designer and bookkeeper for Rose Marie Floral Shop on Independence Avenue for 55 years. When customers wanted a "special" design, they always asked for her. She was a great cook and knew how to make every Italian cookie. Her specialty was ravasani cookies. Virginia always thought of others first, never herself.

Virginia was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law Marie and Tony Pena; her brother and sister-in-law John and Dolores Gioia; and brother-in-law Gene Gautieri. She is survived by her sister Josephine Gautieri; brother and sister-in-law Andrew "Hank" and Karen Gioia; nieces, nephews, and friends.
