Virginia Bruno Hogberg, the daughter of John and Rosa Bruno, died peacefully at The Gardens on May 5, 2017 at the age of 83 surrounded by her family. The Rosary will be prayed at 3:30 p.m. followed by visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124. Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, May 10, at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 6415 NE Antioch Rd., Gladstone, MO 64119 where the Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 12:00 p.m. Cremation will follow services.
Virginia attended Scarritt Grade School and Northeast High School and was employed by City Hall as a key punch operator. She also worked for the Gas Service Company and Kirk Welding. After a heart attack in the mid 1970's, she was put on disability and found a new love meeting people at the City Market and baking cookies.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Clara Bruno and Anthony and Clara T .Bruno; brother-in-law, Joseph Caronia; and great nephew Anthony Bruno. She leaves behind her sister, Katherine Caronia; son, John Hogberg; daughter, Janice (Hogberg) Monachino (Joseph); granddaughters, Rose and Toni; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the entire staff of The Gardens for their outstanding care this past year and a thank you to Crossroads Hospice for their support in such a hard time.
