Virginia Sue (Giglione) Santillan, 90, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully at NorthCare Hospice, on September 28, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Virginia was born on August 15, 1936, in Kansas City, Missouri, to the late Carl and Lena (DiCapo) Giglione, and graduated from Glennon High School. She worked as head cook at Vista Del Rio Teacher Retirement Home, and later at the Kansas City Club for many years before making a career change and joining Forrest T. Jones Life Insurance Co., where she spent several years until retiring.

While working at the Kansas City Club, Virginia met Frank Santillan. The two soon married and spent 27 happy years together, enjoying a simple and fulfilling life until his passing in 2014.

Virginia would tell you that her greatest accomplishments in life were her five beautiful children, whom she loved so dearly, along with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all her nieces and nephews. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished the time she spent with each of them.

Virginia had a way of making an impression everywhere she went. She was known for her quick wit, her brutally honest nature, and her unmistakable beauty. She was a strong, memorable woman who lived life in her own way and was loved deeply by her family and those who knew her. Virginia was also grateful for her lifelong friendship with Joey Tarantino and the Tarantino family. Joey and her son Tony would regularly come to visit Virginia and pray the Rosary with her, something she truly adored and cherished.

Along with her parents and husband, Virginia was preceded in death by the father of her children, Frank “Semore” Armato; her sister and brother-in-law Esther and Sam Zicarelli; brother and sister-in-law Anthony and Joan Giglione; nephew Steve Zicarelli; and sons-in-law Douglas Terrell and Victor Glorioso.

She is survived by her children: Leah Terrell, Cynthia Glorioso, Dominic Jude Armato, Carl Vincent Armato, and Vanessa Ferrara (David Dale); her grandchildren: Joe and Rosemary Glorioso, Frank and Gina Malvagna, Carl Victor and Jason Glorioso-York, Phillip Bolin, Alaina and Daniel Abston, Johnny Ross and Angel Ferrara, Andrea Marie Armato, Anthony and Savina DiRenna; her great-grandchildren: Victor Joe and Angelina Glorioso, Marissa, Jenna, and Talia Malvagna, Henry Glorioso-York, Jolyn Armato, Mario, Giovanni, and Pnina Serrone; and many loving nieces and nephews from the Giglione and Zicarelli families.

The family would like to thank the staff of Northland Rehabilitation, where Virginia resided the last four years, and the staff of NorthCare Hospice.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 4, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, where the Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m. Family and friends will gather on Monday, October 5, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where the Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Virginia will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
