Obituary

Victor F. "Vito" DiCapo, 89, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2017, at the Saint Luke's Hospice House. The Rosary will be prayed at 1:30 p.m. followed by visitation from 2-7 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124. Family and friends will gather on Monday, May 22, at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 6415 NE Antioch Rd., Gladstone, MO 64119, where the Funeral Mass will begin at 12 p.m. Contributions are suggested to the family.
Vito was born in Kansas City, MO, on September 13, 1927, to Rosario and Margaretia DiCapo. He graduated from Northeast High School and served our country in the U.S. Navy. Vito worked at both Johnny Cascone's and Cascone's North restaurants until a month before his passing. When he wasn't working at Cascone's, you could find him selling fruit and vegetables at his fruit stand in Riverside. Vito was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed watching the Kansas City Royals as well as the St. Louis Cardinals. He liked to travel to Surprise, AZ, to watch the Royals in spring training.
Vito was preceded in death by his wife Betty; his son Johnny Joe; and his siblings, Charlie, Corina, Joe, Nancy, Mary, Martha, Jennie, and Josephine. He is survived by his children, Patty Nigro (George), Jimmy DiCapo (Shannon), and Victor Ross DiCapo (Julie); his grandchildren, Mary Beth Cooper (Tyler), James "Jimbo" DiCapo, William DiCapo, Molly Kimberlin, Katie Nigro Carolan (Brad), Angie Nigro Pettus (Sean), Vito DiCapo, Joe Mike DiCapo, Victoria DiCapo Scruggs (Ryan), Tommi Ann DiCapo, and Maria Hall; and great-grandchildren, Anthony Cooper, James, Kaeyden, Landon, and Bella. He also leaves behind many dear friends including Janet Flanigan.
