Wayne L.
Lentz
Mar 20, 1942 — Mar 19, 2019
Wayne Lentz passed away on March 19, 2019, his unofficial birthday. He turned 77. He left three children, Renee, David, and Phillip; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
His life was a one full of dedication: to all of people he served in his 35 years on the Kansas City, Missouri Fire Department, family, and friends. He never said no when someone asked for something. And if he offered to do something for you, and you declined, his go too quote was "You can't take money with you when you die." It just is an amazing example of how selfless he was. Through his life he did much more than many would have ever thought of. Following graduation of freshman year of high school, he dropped out. This was to get married to his wife of over 40 years, Juanita Candillo Lentz. Without many skills he worked construction and became a metal polisher. When he turned 21, he applied to and became a fireman. This was the start of a 35-year career gaining him the rank of Captain. One of his achievements as a fireman includes a Medal of Bravery. He received it for rushing into a burning building, without any gear, to save a baby. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and spending time with family.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. with a Funeral Service at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26 th , at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124. Burial will be at Mt.
