Obituary

William John "Bill" Travers Jr. passed away on August 7, 2025, at the age of 71. He was born on January 8, 1954, at Fairchild Air Force Base near Spokane, Washington, to the late William and Geraldine (née Lis) Travers.

Born into an Air Force family, Bill's early years were marked by travel and adaptability, living in various locations including England, Mississippi, North Carolina, and Illinois. These formative experiences helped shape the thoughtful, worldly, and compassionate man he became.

In 1979, Bill married the love of his life, Cherry, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned 46 wonderful years. Together, they built a life filled with love, mutual respect, and shared purpose.

Bill worked for many years at Folgers Coffee in Kansas City and later at Procter & Gamble before retiring in 2012. In retirement, he gave generously of his time and talents, volunteering at the Don Bosco Center where he taught English to immigrants and helped many earn their food handlers licenses—an effort that deeply reflected his quiet commitment to uplifting others.

A natural connector, Bill was a beloved friend to many and played an instrumental role as an organizer and active member of the Folgers Kansas City Alumni Group. His warmth, kindness, and sense of humor will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Bill is survived by his wife, Cherry Travers; his five siblings: Fr. Pat (Alaska), John (Illinois), Tom (Oregon), Lisa (Illinois), and Lynn (Wisconsin); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was deeply loved and will be forever remembered.

As Cherry shared, "Bill was the greatest guy in the world, and I loved him with all my heart. He will be with me forever."

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 16, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family are warmly invited to attend and celebrate Bill's life.
