Devoted wife and mother, Katherine Samenus, 84, died December 3, 2020. Katherine's joy in life was her family. She grew up in Kansas City, MO and was one of 13 children of Dr. Leo A. and Patricia O'Brien. She attended St. Teresa's Academy and Donnelly College for nursing. She married Charles Samenus in 1958 and together they raised six children in Kansas City, St. Joseph, and Sioux City, IA. She loved antiquing, volunteering, gardening, reading, cooking, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Leo A. O'Brien and Elizabeth O'Brien, 10 brothers and sisters, and her youngest son, Daniel. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Charles , and her children Michael Samenus, Maribeth Samenus, Stacee Samenus, Jeff Samenus (Shelly) and Stephanie Samenus (Larry Fillipi, Jr.) and 16 grandchildren Alexa Samenus, Luke Chambers, Gabriel Chambers, Dominic Chambers, Sophie Chambers, John Chambers, Candice Stacey, Kristina Maude, Samuel Maude, Kelsey Samenus, Connor Samenus, Keane Fillipi, Tiffany Granillo, Victoria Fillipi, Adam Fillipi and Charlie Samenus. She also has seven great-grandchildren, Theo Chambers, Evelyn Samenus, Eleanor Fillipi, Sophia Granillo, Olivia Granillo, Nolan Granillo and Sydney Granillo.

Due to COVID restrictions, a private service will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, December 9 at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Gladstone, MO. The service will be live streamed on the ' St Andrew the Apostle Gladstone MO ' YouTube Channel. Inurnment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Kansas City, Kansas.
