Margaret Jean
Brooks
Mar 15, 1936 — Mar 21, 2021
Margaret was born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1936 to Stanley and Patricia Jenkins. She had one favorite brother named Jim who is deceased. Margaret attended and graduated from Grandview High School. She married our good-looking father John Brooks, a 20-year veteran of the United States Air Force, traveling the world while serving our country as a military spouse. Margaret had ten children, seven surviving and was blessed with six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and several son and daughters-in-law.
Margaret lived in Raytown, Missouri for the last 30 years. In her 40's she went to work for Old American Insurance Company and later retired from Kansas City Life Insurance Company as a Customer Service Senior Service Representative and was a great letter writer and problem solver in her position.
She loved holidays and family get togethers, especially Christmas, Easter and the Fourth of July and did most of the cooking 😊 for our family events in her younger years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, took good care of several sons and our father and enjoyed watching Kansas City Royals and Chiefs games. She liked playing cards and going to plays and concerts and to Branson and other road trips with her family. In her retirement she enjoyed a few years of RVing cross country and found some favorite locations like Sedona, Arizona and Edisto Beach, South Carolina.
She enjoyed her time socializing, working together to care for needs of the parish at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and was also a volunteer at Harvesters' and Research Medical Center where she served communion. She loved her church family and enjoyed the company of her friends playing dominos and attending other church events.
She passed away shortly after her 85th birthday with family at her side on 21 March 2021 after enduring several difficult years of heart and kidney disease. We will miss her caring and loving nature and her zest for life. For a long time, we thought she would go on forever, she had the nickname "Energizer Bunny".
Services for Margaret will be held on Saturday March 27, 2021 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 7049 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, Missouri 64133. Visitation is at 12:00 noon, Mass is at 1:00 pm and the Burial is at 2:00 pm across the street from the church at Floral Hills Cemetery, 7000 Blue Ridge, Kansas City, Missouri 64133. The family suggests making a donation to Harvesters' or another charity of your choice in lieu of sending flowers. Please wear your mask and practice social distancing to stay safe.
