Obituary

Anthony "Tony" Lalumia, 83, of Independence, Missouri, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, at St. Luke's Hospice House.

Born on July 30, 1942, Anthony was married to the love of his life, Sandy (Tucillo) Lalumia, for 56 wonderful years. The two were seldom apart and built a life rooted in love, laughter, and family.

Anthony began his professional career as a hairstylist and later became the proud owner of Carlito's Restaurant in Raytown, which he operated for over 37 years. Through the restaurant, he created countless memories and made many lifelong friends.

A devoted fan of the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs, Anthony also had a strong interest in politics and current events. He cherished Sandy's cooking—her spaghetti and meatballs were his favorite—and loved hosting family gatherings filled with food, laughter, and connection. He had a creative spirit, enjoyed working with stained glass, and had a special passion for decorating during the holidays, especially Christmas.

Anthony is survived by his brothers-in-law Charlie DiMarco and Vince Gulotta; his sister-in-law Nancy Lalumia; and many loving nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law and their husbands Frances and Don Watterson, Lucille and John Amaro, and Michelle and Brian Smith.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sandra "Sandy" Lalumia ; his parents Andrew and Augustine Lalumia; his nine sisters Rosalie, Loretta, Joanne, Betty, Helen, Mary, Fran, Phyllis, and Lucille; and his three brothers Jimmy, Joe, and Sal.

Anthony's warmth, humor, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
