John M. Brooks was born in New Matamoras, Ohio in December 1931 to Wiley and Nettie Brooks and passed away February 2024.  John was the eighth of ten children, one surviving (Mary Geisler).

John entered the United States Air Force in February 1950 and his duty as an aviation mechanic included service during the Korean War.  John worked on many types of aircraft including F51 fighter planes, B17, B25, B26, HC13, HC97 and T6 aircraft while specializing in propeller repair.

John met his wife Margaret , who has since passed, in 1954 and married the same year.   They lived in Japan, New York, Illinois and Hawaii before John retired from the United States Air Force in February 1970.  John then worked for the City of Kansas City, Missouri as a heavy equipment mechanic until his 2nd retirement.

John had ten children, seven surviving and was blessed with six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and several son and daughters-in-law and lived in Raytown, Missouri for the last 30years.   John loved his family, was a great husband and father and he had a big charitable heart.  He also had a special place in his heart for his mom, siblings, and their families that resided in Ohio and other locations across the USA.

John enjoyed holidays and family get togethers, especially Christmas, Easter and the Fourth of July and also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  John has not only served the United States of America through his twenty-year tenure in the United States Air Force but he also served his family and their spouses and children.  He is a husband, father and "HERO" in the truest form.

During his lifetime he was obsessed with having a green lawn with no weeds and liked to have his sons move and replant bushes and trees to get them in the perfect location😊 He spent a few years RVing cross country with his wife and found some favorite locations like Sedona, Arizona and Edisto Beach, South Carolina.  John loved classic cars and new ones too, all types of music and was an avid bird watcher.

Services will be held on Thursday, February 22, at Coronation of Our Lady Catholic Church in Grandview, MO. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the Funeral Mass at 12:00 p.m. Burial with Military Honors will be at 2:45 p.m. at Floral Hills Cemetery. The family suggests making a donation to a Veteran's charity or another charity of your choice in lieu of sending flowers.
