Mary Lee Martino, 88, of Weatherby Lake, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born August 17, 1937, in Shelbyville, Kentucky, Mary Lee lived a life centered around faith, family, friendship, and community. She was married to the love of her life, Frank A. Martino, Sr, for 60 years before his passing. Together they built a large, loving family and a home filled with warmth, laughter, and treasured Sunday dinners.
Mary Lee was a devoted member of St. Therese Catholic Church and was deeply involved in her community. She worked for the Kansas City Royals organization for 35 years as a sales associate with the Lancers, where she formed many lasting friendships. She was also a proud member of the Monday Club for more than 50 years.
She found joy in life's simple pleasures, especially walking around Weatherby Lake, often multiple times a day. Her greatest vocation was that of wife, mother, Nonnie, and great-Nonnie. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, strength, gentleness, and unwavering love that will continue to guide her family for years to come.
Mary Lee was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank A. Martino, Sr ; daughter, Kristi Martino; mother, Genevieve Gordon; brother, John Gordon; and grandsons Anthony Martino, Louis E Calandrio, Jr and Aaron Morris.
She is survived by loving children Vita O'Rourke (Kevin), Ginni Steele (Dr. Mark), Sheri Parker (Victor), and Frank Martino, Jr. (Catherine); cherished grandchildren: Dr. Kevin O'Rourke, Jr. (Katherine), Frank O'Rourke (Nicole), Mary Miele (Frank), Megan Boxx (Nick), Alex Steele (Sarah), Mallory Marks (Evan), Libby Joyce (Dr. Chris), Luke Steele (Daniela), Jolynn Calandrino, Angela Morris, Shara Calandrino, Claire Sorensen (LA), Julia Yemm (Ted), Sam Martino, Nick Martino, along with 21 great-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren on the way, two great-great grandchildren on the way, and brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Donna and Jack DiMartino, Jeanne DiMartino, Carmela DiMartino and Nancy Gordon
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at McCrite Plaza at Briarcliff and Kansas City Hospice for the loving care and dignity shown to Mary Lee during her final years.
Services will be held on Tuesday, May 12, at St. Therese Catholic Church, Kansas City North. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson's Exercise & Wellness Center ( www.thepewc.org ), Kansas City Hospice, or St. Therese Catholic Church.
