Rosalie Micheline (Lipari) Cicero, 100, passed away December 19, 2022. Services will be held on Wednesday, December 28, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the Funeral Mass at 12:00 p.m. Entombment will follow at Mount Olivet Mausoleum.

Rosalie was born April 30, 1922 to Saverio (Sam) and Micheline (Maggie) (Moley) Lipari. She was born and raised in Kansas City's North End, the neighborhood she dearly loved. She often spoke of fond memories growing up there with her beloved brother Louie and her many cousins, who she considered bonus siblings.

Rosalie married her husband Sam during World War II. They were married 73 years until his death in 2017. She took care of their home in Kansas City's Northeast area while he worked at his business. When he retired and they moved to Kansas City's Northland, they spent their days on the go, always together, enjoying their favorite activities surrounded by their many friends.

Rosalie loved being around people, especially her family. She regularly hosted gatherings and treasured the times spent with her greatest joy: her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an active member of the American Daughters of Columbus, played in bocce and bowling leagues, and loved her card games with "the girls." She also loved to travel, whether it was a cruise, a trip to a casino in Iowa or horse races in Omaha, but especially to California to visit her brother and his family. Rosalie never passed up an opportunity to get out and about, even in her later years. She always wanted to be involved in the latest conversation, even wheeling out to the nurse's station in the nursing home to get the current scoop.

Rosalie was a part of the Greatest Generation, enduring many trials during the century she lived by leaning on her strong Catholic faith: the Great Depression as a child, an Army wife during World War II, and the passing of many friends and loved ones before her. She even survived a bout with the Coronavirus – the illness and isolation of the Covid-19 pandemic were no match for her physical and mental toughness.

Rosalie was an unassuming, kind and gentle soul, with a beautiful smile and compassionate heart. She is already greatly missed.

Rosalie was preceded in death by husband, her parents, her brother and sister-in-law Louis and Lillian Lipari, and sisters and brothers-in-law Angeline and Thomas J. Gialde and Josephine and Stan Gialde. She is survived by her children, Betty Lou and Dr. John Campobasso, Margie and John Wessling, and Dr. Steve Cicero; grandchildren and their spouses Rozanne Sutherland (Scott), Suzanne McKelvy (Tony), Chrissy Payne (Matt), Anthony Campobasso (Mindy), Cara Elbert (Jared), Brian Wessling (Jess), Sal Cicero (Lindsey), Nick Cicero (Mary) and Michael Cicero and great-grandchildren Joe, Elizabeth and Johnny Witherow, Michael, Maggie and Katie Payne, Christina and Abby McKelvy, John and Vivienne Campobasso, Cooper and Charlotte Elbert, Sam and Frank Cicero and Alaina and Georgia Cicero. Rosalie also held a special place in the heart of her niece Mary Louise (Lipari) Mullen and family, and all of her Gialde nieces and nephews.

Rosalie's family would like to express appreciation to Dr. Dennis Drews, and to the staff at New Mark Care Center, especially Madonna and Andrew, for their highly personalized care.
