Russell Dean Blackman Jr., "Rusty", age 79, passed away on the 21st of May 2026, at home.

Rusty was born on January 14th, 1947, at St. Mary's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri to Russell Blackman and Francis (Fitzgerald) Blackman. He was preceded in death by his cherished wife Barbara J. Blackman , his father Russell Dean Blackman Sr., his mother Francis T. Blackman, his brother David W. Blackman (Pat), stepbrother Randy Thomas (Denise), and his nephew Ken E. Blackman. Rusty is survived by his son Russell Dean Blackman III (Dawn), his daughter Amy Frances Blackman (Andrea), his brother Kent E. Blackman (Debbie), his stepmother Anna Mil Blackman, many nieces and nephews, and his adored grandchildren Andrea M. Hart (Jimmy), Victoria D. Blackman, Mattthew D. Blackman (Madison), and Connor Lamb.

Rusty attended Wentworth Military Academy from 1964-1967, where he earned an associate's degree. Following his graduation, Rusty began working at his family's funeral home, C.H. Blackman & Son. Rusty married his beloved wife Barabara on August 4th, 1967. The two shared 58 wonderful years together, raising their two children Dean and Amy. Rusty and Barbara were avid dog lovers, owning three Basset Hounds and one Brittany Spaniel over the course of their marriage.

Rusty's life was so full that it cannot be summarized here. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, traveling, car shows, riding his Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail, and of course the outdoors. Rusty's life will be remembered in the small moments of love he showed his family and friends. From a quick joke to an attentive ear and a cheeky smile, Rusty always found life in new friendships and fun conversations. Those who knew Rusty knew how he was always quick to chat with someone, never knowing a stranger. Though Rusty has been reunited with his wife, the warmth of his love and humor will be carried on by his loved ones. His family is forever grateful for the countless memories he helped create. From his constant questions about what sweet treats have been baked for him to his ornery smile and curious nature, you are beloved, dear Grandpa.

A visitation will be held on June 6th, 2026, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Rusty will be laid to rest with his wife Barbara at Mount Washington Cemetery following the visitation. In lieu of flowers, contributions can made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Wayside Waifs, and Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue.

Honorary Pallbearers include Kent Blackman, David John Blackman, Carl Blackman, Jordan Thomas, Justin Thomas, David Mason, and Sherry Zimmerman.
